Award: Winner
Category: Sunscreens

OVER 25 YEARS AGO the Cancer Society launched its first sunscreens to give Kiwis high-quality UV protection and help fund cancer support services for patients and life-saving cancer research.

Successive formulations have been introduced to stay at the forefront of scientific progress while the products are manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, with every batch tested to meet precise specifications.

While Cancer Society sunscreens are a trusted family companion, people also choose them because profits support Kiwis affected by cancer. Millions of dollars have been raised to fund cancer research and care for those with a cancer diagnosis.

Skin cancer is Aotearoa New Zealand’s most common cancer, with over 90,000 Kiwis diagnosed each year. Over 90% of skin cancers are caused by excessive UV exposure and are preventable. The Cancer Society promotes prevention through shade, protective clothing, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, supported with frequent sunscreen application.

“Our goal is to protect Kiwis from the sun, while supporting those affected by cancer. This award reflects the trust people place in us, and we’re incredibly grateful,” says Helen Carter, CEO, Cancer Society Sunscreens.
